***As many of you are aware, I had a baby boy, Harry Henderson Chapman V, on May 16th. He was born at 8lbs 10oz and 22in long. He is a happy and healthy little man. I will be starting the 2012-2013 school year at home taking care of baby Harry. I will be returning, however, on Wednesday, November 28, 2012.
My long term substitute will be Amanda Becker. I am confident that she will work diligently with the students and collaborate with the general education staff to best meet the needs of all students. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Becker, Michele Welch, your child’s Case Manager, or Dr. Barneman, our School Psychologist, in the Child Study Team office. I look forward to returning to school to work with your child and wish nothing but the best for a smooth and successful beginning to the school year.
Thank you for visiting my classroom website. Please view the headings to the left to learn more about my class.
Third grade and fourth grade language arts resource is a small group pull out program. The focus is on daily direct instruction in reading and written language with a focus of developing independent readers and writers.
I believe that attendance is very important. Your child should be in school every day unless s/he is sick. Consistency and routine are key to a child's education. The day is filled with learning experiences for every child so I also suggest keeping your child in school for the entire school day. Even missing the last hour of school can put your child behind and work will have to be made up.
Every child must bring their planners to school every day. This is a great way for your child to learn organizational and time management skills. I look at your child's planner everyday so it is also a great form of communication.
I look forward to working with you all and to having a great school year!!!
